Appeal for the support of the people fired for the strike in Krowarzywa

On the 20th of June of this year, a protest began in the Krowarzywa restaurant in Warsaw. Workers employed in the restaurants on Hoża and Marszałkowska streets opposed the anti-worker policy of the owners; ungrounded firings, illegal employment without any contract, unequal treatment in terms of pay, being overloaded with work. The situation had been strained for several months. With the increase in the restaurant's popularity, and, in turn, the profits, the owners extended the premises. This caused an even higher overload without an increase in wages.
With the growth of the company, the owners wanted to "improve efficiency". The harbinger of these changes was the hiring of a new manager and the increased control over the staff through the installment of CCTV cameras. With the appearance of the new manager, there was a fear of further firings, and the workers decided to organize and join the Inicjatywa Pracownicza union. The founding meeting took place on the night of the 18th of June. On Sunday, the 19th of June, the first person was fired. On Monday, the staff gave the owners an ultimatum to either renew the employment of the person fired, systematize the wages, remove the cameras and hire the entire staff through employment contracts or otherwise the staff would stop working. The bosses did not agree to the demands, and therefore the workers began to strike.
The employer ruthlessly suppressed the workers' resistance by locking them out and firing a dozen strikers. Former Krowarzywa employers were left with no income and with the need for material support. For this reason, we appeal for donations to the main account of Inicjatywa Pracownicza, for statuatory purposes. All such donations will be transferred to the strike fund and paid out to the strikers in the form of benefits. Our main weapon is the fact that we work together, we fight together and support each other regardless of whether we know each other or not. Mutual help is the foundation of worker solidarity.
